Clemmens Mbeki immediately noticed the strange car driving up to the farmstead, the previous night. Without Michelle's knowledge he followed her every movement. He watched her entering the large farmhouse through an open window and unlocking the front door.
Michelle had slept in the big mansion and was up early the next morning and when she concealed her car behind some bushes Clemmens became suspicious. His highly trained eyes and mind quickly assessed that Michelle was planning a ambush, when she closed the farm gate with a lock and chain and carefully paced off the distance, from the gate to her hiding place behind the stone wall of the driveway.
Clemmens still clearly remembers the day, that the creek had become a river. There was a cloud burst higher in the hillocks and at first the rain did not bother him and Robert, where they where fishing in the creek.
They were farm lads and no little rainstorm, where going to spoil their day and stop them from fishing. Suddenly the thunder rumbled nearer to them and then it was as if the skies really opened. After some time while Robert was packing away his fishing tackle, convinced that no fish was going to take the bait; for some reason a yellow fish took Clemmens' line.
Clemmens jerked his fishing rod with exact timing and the shining fish shot out of the water and started dancing on the surface, fighting Clemmens who were reeling it in. "I've got him! I have got him!" Clemmens shouted excitedly. "He's really big," Robert commented. "Big isn't the right word to describe him. He is the grand dad of all Yellow fish,” Clemmens answered.
Unexpectedly upstream from out of the kopjes, there was a thundering sound and Robert narrowed his eyes against the whipping rain and then he noticed the gigantic wall of water rushing down the creek. Branches, trees and almost everything in its way were swept away by the enormous power of the thundering mass of water. Clemmens was so intent in catching his prize fish, that he wasn't even aware of the impending danger.
Robert shouted a warning and then he started running for his very life. From a save distance Robert saw the wall of water, lurching Clemmens away and how it swirled him around and around.
In almost one movement Robert stripped his clothes from his body and raced back to the creek that by now had become an angry river and he dived with an arch into the milling waters.
With fear gripping at him, Robert felt the water taking him downstream and at first glance he could find no sign of Clemmens. Robert saw an arm rising above the water and disappearing again.
He sucked his lungs full of air and swam beneath the muddy waters to where he had spotted Clemmens. It felt to Robert as if his lungs wanted to burst and as if the water was sucking him deeper into its muddy depths and then as if by some miracle, he was next to Clemmens and they both broke through the surface.
Immediately Robert noticed that Clemmens had a cut on his head, where something had struck him and that Clemmens had lost his consciousness. To his horror Robert also noticed that Clemmens wasn't breathing at all. A huge tree bumped against them and Robert grabbed a hold onto it and with inhuman strength he lifted Clemmens onto the tree and then pulled himself onto it as well.
Quickly Robert turned Clemmens onto his stomach and he saw some water pouring out of Clemmens’s mouth and nose and to Robert’s relief Clemmens gasped for air and started breathing again.
This and other more joyful incidents in their lives had strengthened the bond between Clemmens and Robert and Clemmens somehow sensed, that the woman laying the ambush, was trying to help Robert in some way.
Unnoticed Clemmens fetched his weapons from where he had hidden them and he took up a position on the opposite side of the driveway, from Michelle behind a big boulder that was overgrown with a small bushes.
The tube of the RPG7V rocket launcher protrudes from Clemmenses hiding place, but not enough to be noticed from either Michelle’s position or from the gate and Clemmens waits patiently ready for war.
